Understanding the SSU Examination System

Sikkim State University conducts semester-end examinations for all its undergraduate and postgraduate programs, typically twice a year — once at the end of the odd semester (November–December) and once at the end of the even semester (April–May). Staying on top of exam schedules and knowing how to access hall tickets and results online can make a significant difference to your academic experience.

Exam Schedule & Date Sheet

The Controller of Examinations at SSU releases the official examination timetable (date sheet) a few weeks before exams begin. The schedule includes:

  • Dates and timings for each paper
  • Examination center details
  • Paper codes and subject names

The date sheet is published on the SSU official website under the "Examinations" section. It is important to download and save the schedule as soon as it's released to plan your preparation accordingly.

How to Download Your Hall Ticket (Admit Card)

Your hall ticket (also called admit card) is a mandatory document to carry on every exam day. Without it, you will not be permitted to enter the examination hall. Follow these steps to download it:

  1. Visit the official SSU website and go to the Examination section.
  2. Click on the "Hall Ticket / Admit Card" link for the relevant exam (UG or PG, odd or even semester).
  3. Enter your enrollment number or registration number and date of birth as required.
  4. Verify the details — name, program, exam center, and paper codes — for accuracy.
  5. Download and print at least two copies of the admit card.

Important: If there are any discrepancies in your hall ticket (wrong name, subject, or center), contact the Examination Cell immediately before the exam begins.

What to Carry on Exam Day

  • Printed hall ticket (admit card)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, college ID)
  • Stationery: blue/black ballpoint pens, pencils (for diagrams)
  • No electronic devices unless permitted for specific practical-based exams

Checking Examination Results

SSU results are published online after the examination and evaluation process is complete. Here's how to check your results:

  1. Go to the SSU official website and navigate to the Results section.
  2. Select the relevant program (UG/PG), semester, and academic year.
  3. Enter your roll number or enrollment number.
  4. View and download your marksheet or grade sheet.

Results are usually announced within 30–60 days of the last examination date, though this may vary by semester and department.

Re-Evaluation and Back Paper Process

If you are unsatisfied with your result or have received a failing grade, SSU provides the following remedial options:

  • Re-totalling: Request a recount of your marks within the stipulated deadline after result declaration.
  • Re-evaluation: Apply for re-evaluation of your answer script by paying the prescribed fee.
  • Back/Compartment Exams: Students who fail in one or more papers can appear in back exams held separately. These are typically held a few months after the main results.

Application forms for re-evaluation and back exams are available on the SSU portal or at the Examination Cell office.
